Alexandra Woolbright has been writing stories since her early childhood, thanks to a small composition notebook and a few encouraging words from her grandmother. 

 

The Columbus, Mississippi, native attended Mississippi University for Women, where she was an active member of many campus clubs, honor societies and leadership programs. Woolbright studied abroad in Brussels, Belgium and worked for the campus newspaper, The Spectator, in a variety of roles including news editor, managing editor and editor-in-chief. Also, she served as an intern at Main Street Columbus, Inc., where she co-organized several community events including the 2013 Giant Possum Town Yard Sale, Summer 2013 Farmers' Market and the 2013 Market Street Festival. She was named Miss MUW and inducted into the MUW Hall of Fame in 2014.

 

After graduating from MUW with a degree in communication, Woolbright received her master's degree from the University of Alabama in 2015. As a graduate student, Woolbright worked as a fellow in the Community Journalism Program, where she co-created a multimedia website. During this time, she also presented at the American Journalism Historians Association Southeast Symposium. Woolbright interned as a reporter at The Anniston Star in Anniston, Alabama, writing news and feature stories covering health, education, religion and culture.

 

Over the years, Woolbright has worked as a media director, editor, journalist, graphic designer, social media manager, copywriter, marketing consultant, web content manager, instructor and freelancer. Currently, she works in marketing at a metals company in Birmingham, Alabama, and as a freelance multimedia journalist. She enjoys spending time with her two fur children,  Scarlett and Lady, reading books from her local library and visiting the beach whenever possible. She is also busy planning a wedding with her fiancé, Chris.
